Scouting with Master Gardeners

Research from Cornell University shows that early immersion in nature is one of the strongest predictors of lifelong environmental stewardship. The development of a lasting emotional connection to the natural world and a foundational understanding of local ecosystems cultivates pro environmental behaviors, strengthens critical thinking, and builds a sense of personal and community responsibility for shared natural spaces and their inhabitants. It is consistently shown that children who form these connections are more likely to become adults who support conservation initiatives, advocate for sustainable policies, and participate in community-based environmental efforts.1 By investing in nature-based youth programming now, CCE Rockland is cultivating the next generation of informed, engaged stewards who will protect and enhance our local environment for decades to come.

• Programs can be scheduled both during the week and on weekends year-round.

• A Registration form will be provided and serve to reserve the spot you choose. • Each session is approximately 60-75 mins. 

• Most programs can be adapted to suit the age of the participants. Any age restrictions appear on the specific program description.

• Fees vary between $12-15 per scout and are noted on the specific program description. • Fees are based on a 10-scout minimum. 

• An estimated head count is requested upon registration. A final head count is due 3 weeks in advance, following which an invoice will be you emailed. 

• Payment is due 2 weeks prior to the program, payable by Venmo, check or cash. 

• Any cancellations will result in a credit for a future date. We are unable to offer refunds.
