What is the 4-H Veterinary Science Career Exploration Program?
The 4-H Veterinary Science Career Exploration Program gives high school students (grades 9-12) an opportunity to explore veterinary careers and develop skills with experienced animal professionals.
In this series, participants will:

Gain Insight into Veterinary Science Careers

Explore Animal Health and Behavior

Develop Skills with Experienced Professionals
When/Where does the program meet?
Most sessions are held on Mondays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County (10 Patriot Hills Drive Stony Point, N.Y. 10980) from October to December.
2023 Tentative Program Schedule:
- October 2: Introduction to Veterinary Medicine
- October 16, 6:00pm - 8:00pm: Case Studies in Veterinary Medicine / Snake & Rat Dissection
- October 23: Equine Veterinary Medicine
- October 30: Veterinary Technology, Mercy College (555 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522)
- November 6: Exotic Animal Care & Handling, Rockland BOCES, West Nyack, NY
- November 13: Anatomy & Physiology / Owl Pellet Dissection
- November 20: Animal Hospital Tour, Oradell Animal Hospital, Paramus, NJ
- November 27: Cat Care & Handling
- December 4: A "Day in the Life" of a Veterinarian / Education Considerations and Critical Thinking
Space is limited. Registration and payment are due October 2 or until full.
