         Sustainability Walk & Fair 2026

Connect with Nature. Discover Greener Living. Celebrate Our Community.

Sunday, October 4, 2026 | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Congers Lake Memorial Park, Congers, NY

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County for our Sixth Annual Sustainability Walk & Fair, a free, family-friendly day celebrating nature, environmental education, and the people and organizations working to create a more sustainable Rockland County.

Set against the beautiful fall backdrop of Congers Lake, the Sustainability Walk & Fair gives visitors a special opportunity to explore the lakeside trail while learning, discovering, and connecting with our local environment.

Explore the Walk

12 interactive educational stations along the lake near the pavilion, featuring topics such as aquatic birds, invasive species, ticks, local wildlife, the history of Congers Lake, water quality, and more.

Along the way, families can enjoy a scavenger hunt, nature-based activities and crafts, environmental demonstrations, and opportunities to meet educators, volunteers, and community organizations working throughout Rockland County.

More Than a Walk

The Sustainability Fair brings together environmental nonprofits, community organizations, municipalities, local vendors, Cornell Cooperative Extension programs, and sustainability partners in one place.

Visitors can connect with local resources, discover practical ways to live more sustainably, learn about gardening and our natural environment, explore water-quality and stormwater issues, and find ways to become more involved in their community.

And be sure to stop by the V-Fib coffee truck while you explore!

Special Opportunities for Scouts

Girl Scouts can take their exploration even further through our Eco-Detectives: The Secret Life of Bugs experience.

Scouts will become field scientists as they explore the hidden micro-habitats around Congers Lake, investigate insects and arachnids, and learn how these tiny creatures serve as pollinators, recyclers, and natural pest controllers.

Participating Scouts can earn a special Wild Wonders patch. Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged.

Celebrating Environmental Stewardship

The Sustainability Walk & Fair also celebrates the people making a difference right here in Rockland County through our Environmental Stewardship Awards, recognizing outstanding environmental efforts by an individual, youth, and organization.

Support CCE Rockland

The Sustainability Walk & Fair supports the programs and educational services of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County.

Individuals, families, community organizations, and businesses can support the event through donations and sponsorship opportunities, including our Environmental Champion Family Sponsorship, which can be made in your family's name or in memory of someone special.
