Seed to Sunflower
How do seeds grow? Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County will be presenting this STEM-based program that explores how seeds grow. The information will be shared in a variety of fun and fascinating ways. Starting with a reading of a story exploring what seeds are and how they grow into plants. Then through hands-on activities, children will learn how to start seeds in a translucent milk/juice jug using the method known as winter sowing. This economical way of starting seeds uses the natural elements of rain, snow, and sunlight to grow seedlings. Watch the plants emerge in springtime and then plant them in your garden.
