NYSDEC’s other Water Monitoring Programs :

The Lake Classification and Inventory (LCI) is a program that focuses on Lake monitoring.

The Professional External Evaluations of Rivers and Streams (PEERS) project partners with professional organizations outside of the NYSDEC that are collecting biological data to assess water quality in rivers and streams.

NYSDEC’S Water Assessments by Volunteer Evaluators (WAVE) program is an on-going citizen-based water quality program to collect benthic macroinvertebrates from wadeable streams.

Groundwater Sampling in New York State is conducted in collaboration with the US Geological Survey.

NYSDEC Water Monitoring Programs with Volunteer opportunities:

The Citizens Statewide Lakes Assessment Program (CSLAP) uses NYS Federation of Lake Associations (FOLA) volunteers to supplement LCI lake monitoring.

The Water Assessments by Volunteer Evaluators (WAVE) (outlined above) is a citizen-based water quality assessment project (see Rockland County’s volunteer opportunities).
