4-H Seeks Volunteers!

The Rockland County 4-H Program is seeking volunteers to become afterschool club leaders for the 2018-2019 school year!

Why volunteer?

As a 4-H volunteer leader, you will play a key role in helping young people grow as individuals, acquire new knowledge and skills, and become active members of their communities. You will gain personal satisfaction and pride in knowing you have contributed significantly to the personal development of youth.

What support will I have?

Before you become a leader, you will receive a comprehensive training about 4-H, positive youth development, and ways to facilitate “experiential” (hands-on) learning. As a leader, you will have access to a variety of 4-H curricula, trainings, and program ideas that will encourage your members try new things and develop life skills. The 4-H educator and other volunteers are also available to mentor you and answer any questions you may have.

Time Commitment:

Two hours per week between the hours of 2:30pm-5:30pm for facilitating activities

One hour per week of planning time.

Two hours each month to attend Leaders’ meetings or additional training.

Term: At least one year

How do I become a leader?

Contact the 4-H Educator, Kristin Ruggiero at klf37@cornell.edu or call (845) 429-7085 ext. 103.

You will be sent an application, and the educator will work with you to establish a club for next year. You will be invited to new leader orientation trainings and others offered throughout the year.
