Our Earth Day Stream-a-thon was such a success last year, that we will host another one this April 22nd, 2021! CCE educators and staff from across the Hudson Valley will use virtual and social media platforms to provide a day chock-full of short presentations pertaining to a wide range of environmental topics.
We will broadcast live on our CCE Dutchess Facebook page and potentially across other social media platforms.

11:00am Dover Stone Church Nature Walk
Join CCEDC's Sean Carroll & Julie Hart of the Dutchess Land Conservancy on their nature walk through the Dover Stone Church property. Come learn about blooming wildflowers and spring tree ID, and enjoy the sounds of the brook and the birds on this virtual stroll through the woods!

1:00pm Backyard Composting Demo Tour
Have you thought about backyard composting and didn’t know where to start? Have you started and stalled? CCE educator Jen Lerner, a lifelong composter, will go over the basics. We’ll join Jen via live-stream at her backyard composting set-up and engage in a little compost trouble-shooting. Jen Lerner, Sr. Resources Educator, has been with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam county for 17 years, teaching on diverse subjects from tree biology to shiitake mushroom cultivation.

Want to enjoy the outdoors, but a little hesitant on how to do so during a pandemic? The Dutchess No Child Left Inside youth environmental educators give some advice on how to be safe while enjoying the great outdoors
3:00pm A Day in the Life of A Stream Scientist
Join CCE Ulster Stream Educator Tim Koch during some trips into the wild stream channels of the Catskill Mountains. In these videos, Tim demonstrates and discusses some of the field work a stream scientist does, including: stream feature inventories, bank erosion monitoring, stream restoration project monitoring, and a reference reach survey.
4:00pm Curbing Our Carbon Appetite (with our very own Green Teens!)
Do you have/know a child who is in 3rd-8th grade who wants to save our planet? Do they want to learn more about our carbon footprints and the atmosphere? Maybe they're a science lover?
For 1 hour on Zoom, two of our very own Green Teens are set to educate youth in 3rd – 8th grade about our carbon footprints! Your child will take part in solving a real-world agriculture challenge through the 2021 4-H Ag Innovators Experience (4-H AIE) Curbing Our Carbon Appetite Challenge.
Participating youth will learn about ways they can help reduce their carbon footprints along with other activities they can do at home with their families and friends to benefit their community.

7:00pm CNBC Short Special on Plastics Pollution & Discussion
Join CCEDC's Resource Educator Michelle Gluck and Suzanne Barclay, Executive Director, CCE Rockland on Facebook Live or Zoom for a viewing of 2020 CNBC Special Report on Plastics (15min) and post discussion about key themes and what we can do to take action to reduce plastic pollution such as environmentally preferable purchasing and extended producer responsibility policies, using innovative alternative materials, and reducing plastics usage. Special guests will be invited to help inform the discussion. Stay tuned!
