About Dog Showmanship:

New York State 4-H and the American Kennel Club (AKC) offer opportunities for youth to show their dog handling skills, which can help youth develop life-long skills including responsibility, patience, sportsmanship, and self-confidence. The 4-H showmanship competitions focus on the handler, not on the dog’s conformation or purebred status, so rescued dogs and mixed breeds are welcome ( with restrictions). To learn more, go to the NYS4-H Dog Program website or visit the AKC Junior Showmanship website.
