About the Program

Careers with Animals and Agriculture is a career exploration program for youth entering 9th through 12th grade in the late summer of 2020. In this program, participants will tour agribusinesses in Columbia, Sullivan, and Dutchess Counties.

Registration Deadline

Registration ends August 7th. 

Program Dates

Register early! Space is limited to 12 youth. Payment is due upon registration. Spaces will only be reserved for those who have paid. The program runs from Tuesday, August 18 through Thursday, August 20 with a mandatory orientation for youth and parents/guardians on Thursday, August 13.

Program Agenda

Each day, we will meet at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County and travel to farms in nearby counties.


Tuesday, August 18

Columbia County

  • 7:45 AM: Meet at CCE Rockland
  • 9:30 to 11 AM: Sequel New York
  • 11:15 AM to 12:45 PM: Fiber Farm
  • 12:45 to 1:15 PM: Lunch
  • 1:30 to 2:45 PM: Gansvoort Farm
  • 3 – 4:15 PM: Poultry Farm
  • 5:30 PM: Return to CCE Rockland

Dutchess County

Youth Expectations

  • Attend orientation and all three program days
  • Have transportation to and from CCE Rockland each day
  • Be on time
  • Bring a packed lunch (snacks and water will be provided)
  • Follow 4-H Code of Conduct
  • Adhere to biosecurity measures (will be explained at orientation)
  • Complete 4-H enrollment forms upon registration

Fee

$300; financial assistance is available to those with demonstrated need.
