Join us during leaf-peeping-season at the scenic Congers Lake in Congers, NY, for our third annual Sustainability Walk & Showcase. Take advantage of this special opportunity to walk the Congers Lake Memorial Park trail that is normally reserved for Clarkstown residents only.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County is pleased to announce it will be acknowledging environmental work and stewardship at its third annual Sustainability Walk & Showcase on Saturday, October 14. The event runs from 10 am to 2pm and a program announcing the three awards will be held at 11:30 at the Pavilion. Awards will be made in three categories: municipality, environmental organization and an individual.
Municipality – Town of Clarkstown – The Town is being honored for hosting the CCE Rockland Sustainability Walk & Showcase at Congers Lake and allowing CCE Rockland to use the Lake as an educational setting for the last three years.
Environmental Organization – T.O.U.C.H. (Together Our Unity Can Heal) for their work in leading the Rockland Community Against Hunger’s food recovery program. This program annually diverts over a million pounds of edible, fresh produce from the waste stream and distributes it to food pantries and meal programs.
Individual – Sonia Cairo, Executive Director of Keep Rockland Beautiful. In addition to organizing the spring and fall cleanups KRB is known for throughout the County, Sonia has also developed several highly-regarded environmental programs serving elementary and high school students including EarthBeat and the Rockland Plus Program.
