The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension Rockland County present their Autumn Children’s Reading Program:
All summer they grew underground. Now that it's fall the Rude Roots are digging their way out of the dirt to come find you...
Children will meet seven peculiar root vegetables that come out of the ground in autumn. Farmer Karen will whisk them off to rollicking fairy land where root veggies can be very rude in a hands-on storyboard activity. The kids will take an imaginary field-trip to visit the root cellars of yesteryear and then off to see modern farmers use coolers to cool the 'tudes of Rude Roots.
Other highlights include an interactive game with "the Rude Veggie Crew", a comical sing-along, and goody bags packed with delicious recipes and themed pencil/paper activities.
This one hour program is appropriate for children in kindergarten through third grade.
The children will participate in a taste test of some roasted root vegetables.
Please register with the venue.
